The extravaganza opened on Saturday 1 June with A Night of Variety starring one of Britain’s greatest-ever soul singers Beverley Knight. Also on stage was top comedian Sarah Millican, Britain’s Got Talent winners Collabro, and Escala the ground-breaking electric string quartet.
The following day, Sunday 2 June, The People’s Music Hall event gave audiences the chance to celebrate the reopening of the much-loved venue at 1853 prices! The show featured some of Bradford’s best local groups and performers, including The City of Bradford Brass Band and Bradford Festival Choral Society.
Adam Renton, General Manager Bradford Theatres said:
“The reopening celebration weekend at St George’s Hall was a great success, with over a thousand people attending each event. It was wonderful to see all the local artists performing on the Sunday – indeed on both nights the atmosphere in the venue was electric. I’d like to thank all the artists, performers, staff and external organisations who helped to make it such a successful weekend. But most of all, I’d like to thank all our customers for attending and joining in our celebrations.”
