Sir Kenneth Dodd OBE of Knotty Ash, made his professional debut at the Empire Theatre, Nottingham in September 1954 and right from the start loved ‘daft’ billing! Early in his career he was described on show bills as ‘Professor Yaffle Chucklebutty – Operatic Tenor and Sausage Knotter’!
Ken has enjoyed an incredible career covering all genres. He has appeared in numerous Royal Variety Shows, made his film debut in 1997 as the non-speaking court jester Yorick in Kenneth Branagh’s Hamlet, enjoyed many television appearances including his critically acclaimed An Audience With Ken Dodd for ITV which confirmed his status as Britain’s funniest comedian, plus he has received countless awards and accolades including the British Comedy Award for a Lifetime Achievement in comedy.
Don’t miss this fantastic show for all the family, with a supporting company, non-stop gags and a selection of songs presented in his uniquely versatile style: everything from ballads to grand opera. You’ll be absolutely discumknockerated (that’s Knotty Ash for ‘over the moon’) by a truly tattifelarius (fun-filled) evening of laughter and songs!
