Memories Of The Future

Memories of the Future is a work inspired by the themes of Akram Khan Company’s Jungle Book reimagined, reinterpreted by an intergenerational cast from six of Dance United Yorkshire’s community groups and choreographed by Tallulah Shannon and Elliott Augustine.

At its core, this piece explores the universal quest for belonging. Through diverse perspectives, it reflects the struggles and transformations we face in finding our place in the world and how that place evolves with age. It challenges the idea that we must conform - if the shoe doesn’t fit, don’t wear it. With the support of a community and the courage to ask for help, Memories of the Future redefines what it truly means to belong, serving as a reminder of the wisdom we can gain from our elders, our peers, and the younger generations.

Everyone has a voice, and everyone deserves to be heard. We all belong.
